Maria
FRONT DESK COORDINATOR
Maria joined the Capan Orthodontics Team as she was drawn to way that our speciality combines science and modern technology with artistry. It also helps that she loves seeing people smile! You will hear her friendly voice as soon as you call our office and you will be greeted with a warm welcome when you come in to see us. During her time off she loves to spend time with her 2 children, enjoying the outdoors and traveling. Being a Colombian native, she tries to perfect Colombian dishes when she gets the chance.
Alex
FRONT DESK COORDINATOR
Alex is a receptionist at our office and an important part of our front desk team! She comes to us after graduating from Fairfield University in 2022, a Division 1 school where she ran cross country. She is also certified as a lifeguard. She enjoys going on long walks or runs and love meeting new people. Her long term goals include pursing a law degree in the near future. At Capan Orthodontics, she particular enjoys the team atmosphere with her co-team members and constantly learning what orthodontics has to offer.
Kim
REGISTERED DENTAL ASSISTANT
Kim has been assisting at Capan Orthodontics since 2012. After completing her studies at Fortis Institute, she received her RDA, CDA and Dental Radiology License. She has happily found her home at Dr. Capan's office and truly loves working here with her co-workers who have become family. Her favorite part about her job is being part of creating beautiful, lifelong smiles for patients. "Our office is warm, inviting and fun! We strive to make every patient's experience enjoyable while achieving the most amazing results. Someone will walk in as a new patient and end up leaving as part of our office family.
It's such an amazing thing to be a part of and it's so rewarding to hear our patient's tell us that they love coming here!" When Kim is not at work, she loves to travel with her husband. She has been to over 10 countries, but her two favorites are Thailand and Egypt. She currently lives in her hometown of Clifton and loves spending time with her family and friends.
Amanda
REGISTERED DENTAL ASSISTANT
Amanda grew up right here in Englewood Cliffs, not too far from the office! Her passion for the dental field started at just 17 years old and she became a part of the Capan Orthodontics family in 2009. Since then, she has enjoyed becoming fully credentialed with not only her RDA, but also her CDA, (Certified Dental Assistant) COA (Certified Orthodontic Assistant) along with her dental radiology license. “I can use my time and experiences here to confidently inform patients they are, without question, in the right place!” She enjoys the company of our patients and the every day challenges that keeps her on her toes! Her favorite memory happened on a day when our power went out. “We had a patient here who was disappointed since he was counting down the minutes to get his braces off. As a team, we managed to work together in the dark, with no working chair and held our promise to gift that new smile he so proudly showed us! These smiles are our lifelong gift to our patients and the memories we make along the way are ours.” Although she currently lives in Norwood with her husband and two children, Jaxton and Jolie, she welcomes everyone to Capan Orthodontics as her home away from home.
Brittney
REGISTERED DENTAL ASSISTANT
Brittney was raised in Teaneck, New Jersey where she still lives today. She graduated from Fortis Institute in spring of 2019 and found her home at Capan Orthodontics in May 2019. Brittney is CPR certified and has her Dental Radiology License, CDA (certified Dental Assistant) and RDA (Registered Dental Assistant). I feel like I am making a difference in each of our patient's lives and that is very rewarding to me. In orthodontics, your patients become like family because you are taking a very special journey with them." She aims to bring positive and great energy to our office while making the process fun and most importantly. comfortable for each and every one of our patients. She loves our office because "We are one big family that works hard together to get the job done." She enjoys working beside people that truly love and have a great passion for what they do and she is excited to keep growing as an assistant and helping change our patients' smiles! Britt is also a huge movie lover! She looks forward to seeing all the new movies that come into theaters with her son Cameron. "It's our favorite thing to do on the weekends." Her mom and dad are from an Island in the Caribbean, so she loves traveling there and spending time with family.
Shellet
CLINICAL ASSISTANT
Shellet joined the Capan Orthodontics team in 2022 as a clinical assistant and finds herself learning something new each day. “I never pictured myself in this field, but it is truly fulfilling seeing all of the happy smiles here at the office between the patients and ourselves.” In addition to her many other clinical responsibilities, she is also our expert scanner at the office, using CAD-CAM technology to take 3D computer scans of our patients so that Dr. Capan can diagnose and treatment plan her patient’s treatments accurately. The scans also allow our office to simulate the changes we can make with orthodontics to a patient’s smile! This technology has allowed the office to take models of patients without using the doughy and often uncomfortable materials of the past. She is also our lead technician who makes retainers right at our office in our dedicated orthodontic lab. She prides herself on being a summer baby as it’s her favorite season. In her free time, she loves thrifting as well as creating content! She’s very excited to continue her journey and keep growing at Capan Orthodontics!
Sima
CLINICAL ASSISTANT
Sima was born and raised in Damascus, Syria and moved to the United States in 2020. She has wanted to be a dentist since she was little and plans to transfer to Rutgers University to complete her Bachelor’s degree and follow her dream! She came to Capan Orthodontics to gain more experience and knowledge about the field and when we saw her genuine enthusiasm we knew that she would be a perfect fit for our office. Along with working part-time at Capan Orthodontics as an assistant, she also shadows in general dentistry. When asked what she enjoys most about her job, she shares that she loves seeing the transformation from before to after treatment and how happy the patients are with their results! Sima loves to spend time with her big family and although she is only 20 years old, she is an aunt of 6 children! In her free time, she loves to volunteer and collect clothes in centers that help the less fortunate who live in developing countries. She also enjoys baking and watching soccer! Her favorite team is Paris Saint- Germain.
