Early Treatment

When is the best time for my first visit?

The American Association of Orthodontics (AAO) recommends that a child’s first visit may be as early as 7 years old. A first visit may take place between the ages of 7 and 9, although some children may be referred by their dentist earlier.

What can we do at an early age?

An early first visit is crucial to spot possible problems in growth or jaw development. Dr. Capan is able to identify problems early and monitor them throughout growth. Early treatment often focuses on jaw growth and creating space for adult teeth.

Why is early treatment important?

Phase I (early) treatment is usually around 1 year long. By guiding jaw growth and creating space for new adult teeth, Dr. Capan can ensure a more seamless Phase II treatment and prevent future skeletal problems in the jaw.
